Welcome to Marcenet Mercantile!

Marcenet Mercantile: giant cookies, unique artisan chocolates, unusually decadent hand-picked fruit preserves, and chocolate covered candy. Please read before ordering: Five things you should definitely know and then a very long winded, rather tedious but important note about shipping: A note about holiday shipping: all items are made and sent out as soon as they are ready. However, we are happy to hold off making and sending your holiday package out if you prefer. Just leave us a note upon checking out and we'll send it out on the date you want. If you want to be super sure your order arrives before Christmas, please order by DECEMBER 15. USPS/UPS are notoriously busy this time of year and things can take longer to get to their destination, so this gives us a pretty good buffer to make sure your gifts arrive by Christmas. Our baked items and chocolates are fresh and made-to-order without preservatives, which means they are best enjoyed upon arrival. If you aren't planning on eating them right away, they will last longer in the fridge or the freezer. Since we make everything to order, it will take a couple of days to make it before we ship it out. If you need something urgently, please leave a note when you order and we'll do our best to expedite. Everything we make is made in a kitchen handling known allergens such as nuts, milk products, wheat, eggs. All sales are final since this is a food product custom made by order, but if there are any problems at all, please let us know and we'll make it right. <3 Our chocolates are made using cacao and sugar products certified by Fairtrade International. We are able to trace our single-origin cacao products back to individual farmers and co-ops in Ecuador and West Africa. We are committed to sustainability in every aspect of our business and strive to be carbon neutral, using 75% recycled and/or recyclable products during production and shipping.  Please read this very long note about shipping, especially in hot weather: First of all, if you are in the Seattle area, we offer local pick-up on Mercer Island. We ship USPS Priority, which is 2-3 day mail depending on where you are. We ship from Seattle, so if you are in, say, Florida, it’s more like 3 days. Once our lovingly wrapped packages leave our kitchen, we have no control over what USPS does with them.  Shipping is set at $16.00 flat rate per order, not per item. We don't charge for handling. Castiron also charges a convenience fee. If you are buying an item for $12 you’ll be charged about $30. If you buy 2 items for $24, you’ll be charged about $45. It’s weird, I know. I wish I had more control over shipping costs. We’ve reduced the price as low as we can without sacrificing ingredient quality. We ship Monday-Saturday during the fall/winter and on Mondays and Tuesdays during the summer. Chocolates (especially milk chocolate due to high cocoa butter content) will melt just sitting in your hand, so imagine what your lovely, hand crafted chocolates would look like after a weekend in some warehouse. That said, shipping chocolates in spring/summer or anytime to the Deep South is kind of a crapshoot. I’ve had chocolates arrive in perfect condition to Florida in 90 degree heat and I’ve had chocolates arrive in less than perfect condition to Texas during a cold snap. Again: once we ship to you, we’ve done everything we can to make sure your items arrive safely. After that, it’s Mother Nature and the USPS. If you need your items sooner, or you need to make 100% sure there are no melting issues, please contact us at marcenetmercantile@gmail.com and we’ll send you a quote for ice packaging and overnight shipping.
